Responsibilities and Opportunities:  Law Library Reference Associates will provide service at the library’s reference desk during afternoon, evening and/or weekend hours. Associates will have the opportunity to assist and interact with the law school’s outstanding student population and other clientele, and will have access to the library’s exceptional print and electronic collection. The library will provide training and opportunities for interaction with librarians, in addition to opportunities to work on special projects and other ventures consistent with the interests of the Associates and the needs of the library.

Qualifications: Candidates for Law Library Reference Associate positions must be enrolled in or graduated from an ALA-accredited library science program, and must have a strong service orientation, an ability to interact positively with diverse library users, and an ability to work independently and efficiently.   Course work or experience in reference is required. Course work or experience in legal research methods is strongly preferred. Compensation: $15 per hour. Law Library Reference Associate positions are temporary part-time positions. Typical employment will last one academic semester with the possibility of renewal.

Environment: Located in the heart of the Gold Coast on the University’s Chicago campus, the Pritzker Legal Research Center supports the research and instructional needs of more than 90 faculty and 900 J.D. students and graduate students, with a collection of more than 700,000 volumes and equivalents and subscriptions to a wide array of electronic information resources. Further information about the Pritzker Legal Research Center is available at the library’s website http://www.law.northwestern.edu/library.

To Apply: Review of applications for Fall 2015 Associate positions will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled. Candidates should email a letter of application, current resume, and the names of three references with addresses and telephone numbers to:
